Reading Program!

Program Overview

We start this lesson with a reading circle introducing a great book to spark imagination and interest into the hands-on science experiment. Each book is related to the science experiment that is provided after the reading.

Once the book is finished, we begin their hands-on science activity. Finally, we like to end our program with a science demonstration to leave the kids with an impressionable memory of the program offered at your venue!

Programs to choose from:

Waddle Bots – Robots, Robots, Everywhere! by Sue Fleiss We start this lesson with a reading circle introducing the book Robots, Robots, Everywhere! by Sue Fleiss. After the reading, the participants are dismissed to an area that will allow us to make our own robots! Waddle Bots! These are individually made, and battery operated. They are built to "waddle."

Slime – Frankenslime by Joy Keller We start this lesson with a reading circle introducing the book Frankenslime by Joy Keller. After the reading, the participants are dismissed to an area that will allow us to make our own Slime (and follow specific science steps)! We briefly discuss chemistry and go over some safety rules for mixing slime. Each participant may take their slime home at the end of the lesson.

Magical Magnets – Magnet Max by Monica Lozano Hughes We start this lesson with a reading circle introducing the book Magnet Max by Monica Lozano Hughes. Students work in pairs to discover the magical world of magnets. First, we test a variety of items to determine what materials are magnetic and what are not magnetic.

Seed Dispersal – Flip, Float, Fly by JoAnn Early Macken We start this lesson with a reading circle introducing the book Flip, Float, Fly by JoAnn Early Macken. Participants will design and test a wind seed dispersal structure that will blow a seed as far as possible. *Access to electricity may be needed
